There are fifty states in America, each with its own unique culture and history. The states are bound together in a political union and each have their own government. The US territory is divided into 50 states, 48 of which are in the contiguous United States.


 Alaska and Hawaii are the two other states. The United States is made up of a total of 50 states, plus the District of Columbia. There are 48 contiguous states, plus Alaska and Hawaii. People in the US territories do not have US citizenship, cannot vote in the US, and do not pay taxes to the US government.

Alabama



There are fifty states in America and Alabama is the thirty-sixth largest state. It is located in the southern region of the United States and it is bordered by Tennessee to the north, Georgia to the east, Florida and the Gulf of Mexico to the south, and Mississippi to the west. 


The capital city of Alabama is Montgomery and its largest city is Birmingham. The nickname of Alabama is "The Cotton State" because cotton was once the main crop grown in the state.



Alaska



There are 50 states in America, and Alaska is one of them. Alaska is the largest state in America by land area, and it is also one of the most sparsely populated states. Alaska is located in the far northwestern part of the continent, and it is by far the largest U.S. state by area. 


In fact, Alaska comprises more total area than the next three largest states (Texas, California, and Montana) combined. The state of Alaska is divided into two parts: the mainland and the Panhandle. 


The mainland consists of the large central part of the state, while the Panhandle is a narrow strip of land that extends from southeastern Alaska to northeastern Canada. Despite its large size, Alaska only has a population of around 740,000 people, which makes it one of the least populous states in America.


Arizona

There are 50 states in America, and each one is unique and special in its own way. Arizona is no exception. This state is located in the southwestern region of the country and is bordered by California, Nevada, Utah, Colorado, and New Mexico. With an area of 113,909 square miles, Arizona is the 6th largest state in the US. It is also home to over 4 million people, making it the 14th most populous state in America.


Arizona is a landlocked state with a diverse landscape. From the majestic Grand Canyon to the beautiful Sonoran Desert, there is much to explore in this state. And with over 300 days of sunshine per year, you can be sure that there will be plenty of opportunities to do so! Arkansas

There are fifty states in America and Arkansas is one of them. Arkansas became the 25th state of the United States on June 15, 1836. Native Americans, known as bluff dwellers, first lived in the area that is now Arkansas. 


The land was purchased from Napoleon Bonaparte as part of the Louisiana Purchase. Arkansas is nicknamed the Natural State because of its beautiful and diverse geography. It is bordered by Missouri, Tennessee, Mississippi, Louisiana, Texas, and Oklahoma.


California



There are 50 states in America and each one is unique. California is the third largest state in the United States and is located on the west coast. With nearly 39.2 million residents, California is a popular destination for tourists and new residents alike. 


The state is home to a large Mexican population and has a rich history dating back to 1850 when it became the 31st state of the United States. Today, California is known for its beautiful scenery, diverse population, and thriving economy.



Colorado

There are fifty states in America and Colorado is one of them. Colorado is a state in the western United States. Its capital and largest city is Denver. Other large cities are Colorado Springs. Colorado shares a border with seven states: Utah, Arizona, New Mexico, Nebraska, Wyoming, Kansas, and Oklahoma. The landlocked state, named for the Colorado River, is situated in the central United States; it is one of the three states of the Mountain West.


Connecticut



There are fifty states in America and each one is special and has something unique to offer. However, there is one state in particular that stands out among the rest and that state is Connecticut. Connecticut is the southernmost state in the New England region of the Northeastern United States and it is bordered by Rhode Island to the east. The capital of Connecticut is Hartford and its largest city is Bridgeport. What makes Connecticut so special and different from all of the other states?


Well, for starters, Connecticut became the 5th state on January 9th, 1788. In addition, Connecticut ranks No. 20 overall among U.S. states based on 71 metrics across eight categories according to U.S News & World Report. Delaware

Delaware is a state in the Mid-Atlantic region of the United States, bordering Maryland to its south and west; Pennsylvania to its north; and New Jersey. It is known as the "First State" because it was the first of the original 13 states to ratify the federal Constitution. Delaware is also known as the "Diamond State" because Thomas Jefferson called it a "jewel" among the states because of its small size and strategic location. 


Delaware occupies an area of 6,446 km² (2,489 sq mi), making it the second smallest state in the US after Rhode Island. Measured from north to south, it is 154 km long and only 96 km wide at its widest point. Despite its small size, Delaware has a lot to offer visitors. The state's beaches are popular tourist destinations, and there are many historical sites to explore.
